Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts has named Anthony Tyree its most recent Student of the Week. The senior was nominated for the honor by business teachers Lisa Norrington and Matt Lathroum, librarian Angie Tirschman and para-educator Terri Grimes for his "outstanding work ethic and active participation in the business department, according to a statement from the school. Tyree has been a "wonderful library aide as he is motivated to do the work and has the initiative to begin work on his own," according to Tirschman and Grimes. The outstanding student is a "well-mannered young man and a pleasure to work with," they said in the statement. Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts presents its Student of the Week.
Issac Tutt has been selected Student of the Week at Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts for the week ending March 15. The senior was nominated for the honor by Engliash teacher Jillian Roberta. "He is a leader on the track team and always gives 110 percent at practice," Roberta said of the outstanding student in an email to Patch. "He has a lot of heart for the sport and keeps the morale and team atmosphere motivated and light-hearted. He cares about his teammates and always finds a way to support them. His dedication and personality make it easy and fun to coach (him). Issac is one of the few team members that qualified for the indoor state championship meet.” Congratulations!

The Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts senior works hard to make his school a safe and welcoming environment for all, according to teacher Natalie Avallone.
Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts senior BJ Backmon is this week's Student of the Week. He was nominated for the honor by English teacher Natalie Avallone, who noted the dedicated student spent his Saturday in Annapolis meeting with the Maryland Association of Student Councils to discuss anti-bullying efforts in schools. "He is a committed member of the GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) and has worked throughout his four years at Patapsco to make this school a safe, supportive and (through his art magnet studies) artfully decorated environment for all," Avallone said in an email to Dundalk Patch. The sophomore has quickly established herself as a "student standout" in the magnet school's sculpture program, according to teacher Sherri Fisher.
Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts sophomore Dee Austin was named the school's Student of the Week for the week ending March 1. Austin was nominated for the honor by sculpture teacher Sherri Fisher, who said the talented student has quickly become a "standout student" in the magnet school's sculpture program. "Dee is a Sculpture I student in a class that has all levels, including (advanced placement) students," Fisher said in an email to Dundalk Patch. "Her observation and rendering skills are admired and applauded by her peers and she is quickly becoming a class leader. Freshman Devon Reynolds is the Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts Student of the Week for the week ending Jan. 18. He was nominated for the honor by educators Mara Ma, Janice Singh and Elva Venzke. Devon "works very hard and is a class leader," according to Venzke. Dresden Dosch sets high standards for herself in her roles as student, athlete and artist.
Dresden Dosch has been named Patapsco High School and Center of the Arts' most recent Student of the Week. The sophomore was nominated for the honor by social studies teacher Chris Karwacki and art teacher Bernie Zienkiewicz. “Dresden has come quite a long way over the last two years, both as a student and an athlete," Karwacki said in his nomination. "Dresden exhibits a lot of talent in the art magnet program and she demonstrates a solid work ethic at track and field. Junior Jacob Rutter shares his knowledge of technology and is active in technical theater.
Junior Jacob Rutter has been named Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts Student of the Week for the week ending Dec. 14. Rutter was nominated for the honor by technology liaison Terri Grimes, social studies teacher Steve Dorfman and technical theater teacher Kevin Carlson. Nominators said Rutter, who is "very tech savvy," is always willing to use his "considerable technology knowledge to work in helping teachers with projector or computer problems, even after school." Rutter helps refurbish old computers and helps to set up technology for faculty meetings. He also operates lights for theater productions. Pataspco High School and Center for the Arts senior Jordan Brown is this week's Student of the Week. Three Patapsco educators—Angie Tirschman (library), Trish Dunn (English) and Lisa Norrington (business)—nominated Brown for the honor. Brown is known for always having a smile on his face and for his willingness to help anyone in need. On his scheduled library aide days, he's know to be on the job by 7 a.m., already working on making copies. "He's a joy to be around," according to the nominating teachers.
