ReplyThe chief, relevant question involves WHEN the officers first knew that the weapon was not real. If they shot the woman AFTER they knew, then the officers have a legal problem. If they shot her BEFORE they knew, then they should not be criticized unless they otherwise realized that shooting her was not necessary to alleviate the threat.

ReplyWhat is worse: in some households, the young thieves are taught to steal, either expressly or by example. So you cannot assume that youths are not "trained"--it depends on WHAT they are trained to do or not do.

ReplyNo rational person believes child abuse is okay. However, did this four-year affair constitute merely child abuse, or was it actually continuing "consentual" conduct between the two that actually amounted to a multitude of statutory rapes (felonies) by the teacher (due to the student's being too young to give legal consent)?
