PHOTOS: Baltimore County Officer First Class Jason Schneider Buried

Fallen Baltimore County police tactical officer Jason Schneider was laid to rest at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens on Saturday.

Law enforcement officers from around the region joined family members and elected officials to escort Baltimore County Police Officer First Class Jason L. Schneider to his final resting place Saturday.

Schneider, a 13-year veteran of the department and a tactical squad member since 2004, was killed in the line of duty early Wednesday while attempting to serve a warrant at a home in Catonsville.

More than 1,200 people attended his funeral at St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church in Carroll County, and a lengthy procession accompanied his body to Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens for the burial.

At one point late in the afternoon, the lead cars in the procession were approaching Rt. 795 while many cars had not yet left the church parking lot, according to police spokeswoman Cpl. Cathy Batton.

Schneider was laid to rest in the company of family members, friends, honor guards from a variety of law enforcement agencies, officers from around the region and members of the public showing respect for the fallen officer.
