Source Says Council Will Vote Yes on Land Deals

A well known community leader with close ties to elected officials stated that the BC Council will vote for the sale of government land tonight at the scheduled session.  Their assessment was based on a recent conversation with one of those elected officials on Friday of last week.

The following was posted on the council's website:

"The County Council work session for discussion of the three contracts of sale of County-owned property (Randallstown Police Substation, Towson Fire Academy, and Dundalk Government Center), as submitted by the Administration, will be held on Tuesday, November 26 at 2 p.m.  Final consideration of these contracts will occur at the Council’s legislative meeting on Monday, December 2 at 6 p.m."

The source did not break down how each member will vote but stated the sale will go through.  They also said if could be some time before any shovel is placed in the ground as the process winds its way through the dreaded - red tape - issues.

Now in addtition to that, one councilperson noted that this is a difficult process and that county attorneys are looking at the matter now.

In an interview with one of the citizen members in attendance at the work sessiion, they noted that both the Councilman John Olszewski Sr. and  Andrea Van Arsdale, the Director, Department of Planning, both stated the North Point Government Center was not a park and once the project is completed there will be more open space.

As you may recall this is the same position Amy Menzer of the DRC took on this matter, despite the listing of the area as a park on the county's website.

New troubling information has come my way where a certain member of the the Procurement Evaluation Committee, which was was comprised of  Baltimore County personnel, may have endorsed Vanguard prior to the full vetting of the process.  More on that latter.

Now according to the county's own website the vote is scheduled for tonight at 6 pm.

As the saying goes:  "We shall see!"
